A modern branch library designed to bring learning, technology, and community space together for the residents of Edwardsburg and the surrounding area. The Barton Group Project Team

The Cass District Library – Edwardsburg Branch is a new 9,500 SF facility created to serve as a welcoming destination for readers, families, and community members. The branch features flexible community rooms, dedicated children’s areas, quiet study zones, and spaces for teens to gather and learn.

Technology plays a central role in the new branch, with a computer lab, ample device charging, and a maker space that supports hands-on learning and programming. Large windows and open sightlines bring in natural light while helping staff maintain visibility throughout the building.

Our role on the project

The Barton Group served as the Library’s Owner’s Representative, supporting the project from early planning through construction. Acting as an advocate for the Library Board and staff, we helped balance budget, schedule, and design goals while keeping the project aligned with community needs.

  • Coordinated with architects and library leadership to align the building program with service goals and community input.
  • Reviewed budgets, schedules, and phasing plans to keep the project financially responsible and on track.
  • Managed communication between the construction team and the owner to address issues quickly and minimize disruption.
  • Monitored quality and progress in the field to help ensure the finished branch meets long-term operational needs.
