The Sugar Bear is now in its 40th year of business in Paw Paw! Originally a seasonal ice cream shop, the current owner (2004) expanded the menu to include hamburgers, wraps and soups as well as vegetarian and gluten-free items, all from house recipes. The property has been lovingly cared for and has undergone many recent updates, including new walk-in freezer (2011) and cooler (2013), new hood system (2012), and roof (2013). It would be easy to expand the offerings by including specialty coffee, expanded desserts, or breakfast, but the current owner has reached her limit and is ready to turn to other endeavors. It’s a part of Paw Paw history, and it has a fantastic future.
